Trumpet, Principal
I am a trumpet player and teacher in the Pennsylvania and Ohio regions. I received a BA in trumpet performance at the University of Northern Colorado, a Masters of Music from the University of Louisville, a DMA at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and an orchestral performance certificate from Carnegie Mellon University.
In addition to my role as Principal Trumpet of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, I serve as Second Trumpet in the Johnstown Symphony and lead trumpet of the St. Vincent Summer Theatre Orchestra. As a soloist I have been a national finalist at the MTNA Young Artist Competition, finalist at the Brevard Concerto Competition, and a winner of the UNLV Concerto Competition. Since finishing my DMA at UNLV in trumpet performance, I am working towards publishing a book focusing on applied Body Mapping for trumpet players.
As a teacher, I have enjoyed working with many students from diverse playing backgrounds. I clearly present, demonstrate, and pass on fundamentals of trumpet technique and musicality to all my students, whether at a beginner or a post-graduate level. I teach out of my home in Pittsburgh as well as Northeastern, PA with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic Mentoring Program.
