Violin II, Principal

Laura has played with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic for several decades, and considers this community a musical home-away-from-home. She has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony, Amici New York, the American Symphony, and the Stamford Symphony/Orchestra Lumos, as well as performing at the OK Mozart Festival. She has served as guest concertmaster with the Connecticut Grand Opera and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Recently, she performed at the United Nations on UN Day.

An avid chamber musician, Laura was a founding member of the Victoria String Quartet while living in Hong Kong. In addition to making several tours of China, the quartet was a vital part of Hong Kong’s musical life with frequent live radio and TV broadcasts of their concerts. Recipients of an Exxon grant, the quartet was selected to perform at Government House for the American Consul General and Hong Kong’s last governor, Christopher Patten. The Victoria String Quartet received critical acclaim and appeared in feature articles in the South China Morning Post and Hong Kong Elle. Closer to home, Laura has made several tours of Northeast Oklahoma with the Amici New York String Quartet. Recently, she collaborated with the Vassar College dance department in premiering a piece for string quartet and dancers.

Laura has performed in Broadway pit orchestras for Ragtime, Boy from Oz, Sunset Boulevard, and My Fair Lady, among others. Recordings include the orchestral soundtrack for the Haydn Planetarium’s Explore: The Universe and Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s Grammy Award Winning Cheek to Cheek, as well as their PBS Great Performances broadcast.
